Production Capabilities

We are able to offer customers bespoke displays suitable for every application. Our capabilities include:

Glass LCDs
Chip on Board
Chip on Flex / Foil
Chip on Glass
Custom LCD Character and Graphics Modules
Value Added Components such as Zebra Strips, Bezels, PCBs, Touch Screens

This document is designed as a guide to this process. We will need to define what size the display needs to be, the type of connections that you require and the conditions and environment that the display must operate within. These considerations are listed here:

Overall Dimensions

These define the exact size of your custom glass design and the viewing area required.

Display Technology Required

We can work with you to define the most appropriate technology for your application. These include TN -the most frequently used LCD technology, used in common items such as calculators and heating controls. HTN for more complex displays, STN, offering various colours or DSTN for the highest quality black and white LCD displays.

LCD Image

What sort of image are you looking to display? This could be numerical data or something more graphical.

Polarisers and Display Mode

LCD displays employ one of three different polariser films. Transmissive are used in low-light, backlit applications. Reflective, suitable brighter conditions. Transflective polarisers are viewable in the widest range of conditions, both high and low light environments.

Connection and Drive Methods

Various connections types are possible. Elastomer (or zebra) connection, low cost and reliable. Pin connectors, epoxy bonded to the glass. Heatseal connectors, pressure bonded foil material.
The drive method (or duty cycle) must be defined. This is the multiplex rate for your display.

Operating Environment

We will need to discuss the environmental conditions that your display is required to operate within.

Design Process

Initially we require a sketch of your requirement and the completed questionnaire. After some discussion we will send you an offer including a engineering diagram, tooling costs, production costs and time-scales.

After approval of the diagram we are able to manufacture your prototypes. Again, once approved by you, we will move to mass production.

We work hard to ensure that of our customers are happy with every aspect of the design, prototype and final product.
